Daily log #1

Work

I spent a large part of the day writing code, mostly working on the blog - I fixed a deployment bug with Next.js, and spent most of working hours between meeting and collaborating with a teammate on a infra as service project we're looking to launch later this year at my workplace.

Maths

Spent roughly 40 minutes on the topic of Clock Arithmetic popular referenced to as *Finite/Modular Arithmetic, a pattern examined by child genius Karl Friedrich Gauss in 1801 when he wrote his book called Disquisitionaes Arithmeticae.

Clock Arithmetic is simply a counting system that periodically circles back on itself. This can be demonstrated in the case of minutes arithmetic, 0 minutes after 45 minutes past the hour is 45 minutes past the hour while 12 minutes after hour 48 minutes is 0 minutes past the hour.

$45 + 0 = 45$

$48 + 12 = 0$

Gauss's approach to this was showing that for any natural number n, there exists a finite arithmetic, the modular arithmetic of modulus n where the number are $0, 1 .... n-1$, and in order to avoid confusion in the addition and multiplication in finite arithmetic with ordinary arithmetic, Gauss introduced a mathematical notation for representing such patterns known as congruence.

Prayer

Participated in the daily bible reading on the Bible app, the verse of the day was Mark 9:23.

Jesus said unto him, if thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

Language

Did mental maths exercises, progressing really well but need to pay more attention to the diagrams as i'm focusing too much on speed. Lazing out on German lessons but i still paid attention to the current one.

Fitness

No gym today, just did minor stretches indoors and a walk to park.
